Mablethorpe holidays 1980's We always went to Mablethorpe on holiday. Dad was his usual jovial and clumsy self. One day offering top take charge of 'operation dinghy'. Pulling me along in a dinghy in the sea, forgetting that waves could capsize. He was happily pulling the dinghy along in the shallows with me in it. He saw the wave coming but couldn't move the dinghy quick enough. Over the dinghy and I went. I dragged myself out of the sea, mouth full of water, face like thunder and stomped off back up the beach. All the way back I could just hear Dad chuckling with laughter. This was him all over, never took anything too seriously!
